Aloha,
This is the email message I sent to the Senators last week. Just wanted Ed to know that he has my unwavering support:
Dear Senators,
I will make this short but to the point.
I support former U.S. Attorney Edward Kubo for the position of Circuit Court judge.
Throughout my police career starting back in the early 1970s I worked with Ed when he was a deputy prosecutor for the City and County of Honolulu and I, as a foot patrol officer with the Honolulu Police Department investigating narcotics cases.
More recently our paths crossed again, he as the U.S. Attorney, and I as the Chief of Police for the County of Kauai. Words cannot express the Aloha I have for Ed, because his heart has always been for the people of Hawaii. His credentials speak for itself so I won’t expand on that. I do know he would do an outstanding job as a Circuit Court judge if given the opportunity.
I humbly ask that you confirm Mr. Kubo for the position of Circuit Court judge. Mahalo for making the time to read this.

Steve Alm was an excellent U.S. Attorney and now is an excellent Judge because of his no nonsense attitude, Ed Kubo was an excellent U.S. Attorney and would be an excellent Judge for the same reason as Judge Alm. We have far too many lenient Judge’s in Hawaii and not enough David Ezra’s, James Aiona’s, and Steve Alm’s. I think Ed Kubo would be in the same category. We have too many hard core criminals being released on parole only to commit more violent crimes than they previously convicted of, we need Judges like the ones mentioned above to give them the harsh sentences and punishment they deserve.
